Goings on: December 2010
We’ve got a new record out, and a Xmas party this Friday in Edinburgh. Apart from that, here’s what’s been happening of late in the world of Gerry Loves Records artists. Lot’s of info, with plenty of freebies. Good times.
Earlier in the year Drew recorded three tracks for Ayrtime!. Ayrtime! is a new series of eclectic cultural events presented in the heart of Ayr, Scotland. Visit the Wounded Knee page to download the three tracks for free and watch a couple of videos. ‘Dad House’ indeed. There are also a few free tracks on the Wounded Knee Bandcamp page.
Julian has started working on his new album, but has also contributed a track to Kowalskiy’s Free Monthly Scottish EP #5. A little bit about the song: “This track was made shortly after the release of my first record ‘Rainbow Bubbles’. I’ve never been to Ausable Chasm (it’s in America) but if I did, I imagine this is what it would sound like, big and deep. For more noises like this, come see me play live.” He’s also decided to give away “Snow” from his Blooms EP (and a remix of the song too). You should also vote for the Miauox Miaoux remix of Silver Columns.
Fox Gut Daata
You can download a free Fox Gut Daata live set from Concrete Streets at Dundee Union, Friday 9th Dec 2009. More from Rickie soon though.
The Japanese War Effort
You can download two free EPs from The Japanese War Effort Bandcamp page. As well as touring with Conquering Animal Sound, Jamie is booking a bunch of JWE shows for the start of next year.
Lewis and co taking some time off from playing shows so he can focus on the final 6 months of degree. A gig in Edinburgh on Thursday and Gerry Loves Xmas will be your last chances to get a Yahweh live fix for a while.
Trapped in Kansas
The boys are heading into the studio later this months to record an EP which will be out early in 2011. Their last gig of the year is December 19th at Sneaky Pete’s in Edinburgh.
We’re glad to hear that Phil may not be hanging up his Debutant boots just yet. He’ll be our special guest at Gerry Loves Xmas on Friday, and he’s going to be recording an album soon which he’s finished writing. You should head on over and ‘Like’ the new Debutant Facebook page. You can also download three free tracks from the Debutant Bandcamp page: Definition, King Of Doublespeak (acoustic) and La Pucelle.
Conquering Animal Sound
You can hear Maschine (Fox Gut Daata’s Todd Terrry RMX) on the Viral Radio podcast which featured in the deluxe edition of the split single, as well as download Not Till the Snow Has Gone (Holistic Systems Remix).
Perhaps more importantly, the debut album will be out on Gizeh / Mini50 in February 2011. We’ve heard it. It’s fantastic. It is preceded by a download only single, “Bear”, which will be available on 13th December 2010 from all good download stores. There is a brilliant video by Cheer. You can stream the single too.
And that my just about be it for this instalment. Hope you enjoy all the music above.
